ACCGS Announces 2008 Super 60

The Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield, Inc. (ACCGS) is pleased to announce this year’s winners of the annual Super 60 Award in the categories of revenue growth and total revenue.

Now in its nineteenth year, the ACCGS award honors the fastest-growing, privately-held companies in the region for their significant contributions to strength of the regional economy. Companies eligible for the award must be independent, privately-owned businesses, be based in either Hampden or Hampshire counties or be a member of the ACCGS, be in business for at least three full years and produce revenues of at least $1 million in the last fiscal year.

This year’s revenue winners combined for close to 1 billion dollars in the past fiscal year (2007) with average revenue for all participants exceeding $19 million and over $32 million for the top 30.  Seven companies also qualified for the Growth category.  64% of the top 30 companies revenue exceeded $20 million and 50% exceeded $30 million.

In the growth category, the average growth was over 30% for all participants and 51% for the top 30..  84% of the companies had growth in excess of 20% and 40% of the companies had growth in excess of 60%.  Seven companies also qualified for the Revenue category.

66% of the Revenue honorees are ACCGS Chamber members, while one-half of the Growth recipients are members.  The Super 60 companies represent five affiliate chambers of the ACCGS with the breakdown by Chamber as follows: Agawam Chamber – 9 honorees, East Longmeadow/Longmeadow Chamber – 4 honorees, Hampden/Wilbraham chamber – 1 honoree, Ludlow Chamber – 1 honoree, and Springfield Chamber – 21 honorees.

Winners will be honored at the Super 60 Luncheon and Recognition Program on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Chez Josef in Agawam, sponsored by Health New England, Hampden Bank, Sullivan, Hayes & Quinn, Sovereign Bank New England, Western Massachusetts Electric Company, Zasco Productions, and ACCGS Media Partner WWLP 22News.  Barry Kriger, Anchor at WWLP TV22, will serve as the master of ceremonies of the program. James H. Johnson, Jr., William Rand Kenan, Jr. Distinguished Professor and Director of the Urban Investment Strategies Center at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, will deliver the keynote address.
