Fist SRC Breakfast of its 2018-19 Season at MGM

August 17, 2018

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., August 7, 2018 -  MGM Springfield will be the site of the Springfield Regional Chamber’s first Rise and Shine business breakfast of the 2018-2019 season on Wednesday, September 5, from 7:15 – 9 a.m. Rise and Shine is a new brand for the Chamber’s business breakfast programs and will reflect a slightly different format than that of previous breakfasts. The breakfast is sponsored by Series Sponsor United Personnel, Breakfast Sponsor Wolf and Company, Series Coffee Bar Sponsor Employer’s Association of the Northeast, and Breakfast Station Sponsor FIT Staffing.

MGM Springfield executives Gregg Skowronski, executive director of hotel operations and Marikate Murren, vice president of human resources, will speak about how MGM, 10 years into a sweeping strategic and cultural transformation, has developed a cohesive company culture and a powerful entertainment brand that is disrupting the industry.

Murren and Skowronski will also talk about how MGM’s mission is not just to provide a short-term bump to a local economy, but to be a long-term partner in stimulating growth, opportunity and development.

As Executive Director of Hotel Operations at MGM Springfield, Skowronksi is responsible for proving the strategic direction and creating a culture of excellence at the property’s 252-room hotel.  His role encompasses maximizing occupancy, rate and revenue, as well as housekeeping, transportation and valet services. This includes staffing, overall guest experience, special events and guest satisfaction.

Skowronksi comes to MGM Springfield with more than 13 years of experience in the hotel and hospitality industry. Most recently, he held the same position at MGM Grand Las Vegas. Prior to joining MGM, Skowronski held various positions at hotel groups, including Wyndham Resorts and Las Vegas Sands.

In her role as Vice President of Human Resources for MGM Springfield, Murren is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of talent and human resources, including ensuring adherence to labor laws, regulations and human resources corporate policies and procedures.

Murren was most recently Director of Human Resources for MGM Springfield, a role she assumed in 2016. In that position, she assisted with building human resources strategies in alignment with the resort’s business strategy to include talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, compensation, employee relations, and other human resources initiatives. She began her career in education and nonprofit work before joining MGM in 2014 as community outreach and advocacy consultant and was later named Director of Training and Workforce Development.

Reservations are $25 in advance for Springfield Regional Chamber members ($30 at the door); $35 for general admission ($40 at the door). Reservations are suggested and can be made online at
